PAI has transformed the University of Essex’s students’ union with ambient lighting and a state-of-the-art sound system that can be used for an array of events.
The venue, which had previously acted as a live music club, was reinvented as a contemporary space called Sub Zero, complete with a multi-purpose technical infrastructure that could accommodate more people and activites.
Collaborating closely with the venue’s general manager Antony Blackshaw and interior designers/architects Heron Design, the team were able to provide the SU with a KV2 ES Series sound system that whilst powerful took up minimum space. Additionally, an Avolites Pearl industry-standard lighting control desk was specified, with a selection of Coemar Prospot and ProWash 250, and Robe Fusion fixtures that are all DMX controlled via a pathway Pathport Ethernet system.
Hungaroflash DMX strobes and a Jem club smoke system, along with four Cirrect Super 3 3-colour DPSS lasers were also added, equipping the room with excellent effects.
