Vaughan Sound was appointed to deliver sound masking and speech privacy solutions, as well as enhanced audio-visual systems within the Boardroom, as an integral part of the client’s office refurbishment scheme.
Vaughan Sound initially conducted a full site survey and performed a detailed needs analysis with the client. Exact coverage, zoning requirements, equipment locations and expectations were discussed and confirmed.
From the issued reflected ceiling plan (RCP), our specialist in-house sound masking design team were able to plot exact positions of the sound masking emitters. Our drawings also clearly indicated the source outputs from the proposed control unit, as well as the four sound source variants required to deliver zoned masking throughout. A large, open plan space of almost 800 sq. metres, we calculated that a total of 58 emitters were needed to provide even, distributed sound masking coverage to all work areas.
Installation carried out by Vaughan Sound engineers saw the emitters fitted and secured to the ceiling tiles via the twist and lock mechanism, enabling each emitter to be discretely flush mounted. Coming in a white finish, they can also be RAL matched to blend into ceiling finishes. Bent type RJ-45 plugs were used to ensure correct contact to each emitter, eliminating any possibility of intermittent system operation.
Through liaison and close collaboration with other trades, including Principal Contractor, Paramount Interiors, Vaughan Sound operated to a tight work programme. All sound masking equipment was installed, tested and commissioned within just two days.
In the Boardroom, our team supplied and installed a multimedia presentation system, with Crestron control via an iPad Air featuring a custom branded graphical user interface (GUI). A 5000 ANSI lumen laser projector provides superb image quality across a three-metre wide electrically operated screen, which is recessed into the ceiling.
BMA Cymru now benefit from a significant reduction in noise distractions from conversations and office cross-talk, resulting in greater productivity and a more pleasant working environment.
Sound masking coverage in key positions such as the reception and waiting area has provided increased confidentiality, giving visitors peace of mind that private discussions will not be overheard.
The new audio-visual presentation and video conferencing capabilities within the Boardroom have greatly improved BMA Cymru Wales staff’s ability to collaborate effectively with external colleagues and members.
“A big thank you for all the work your team has conducted during our office refurb. Your help has been invaluable and I know that the team, and members alike, will hugely benefit from our improved AV facilities. I’m sure the sound masking will help us maintain a professional office environment.” - Rachel Podolak (National Director (Wales), BMA Cymru Wales)
