PAI
has completed a sound lighting and AV project at Pontypridd's photogenic
new social hotspot Alfred's Bar.
PAI were approached to supply all the venue’s technical needs, with Andy Bonehill as project manager, co-ordinating the operation. The client specifically wanted an installer able to deliver all elements rather than just lighting or audio or AV. They also wanted everything done to an extremely high specification.
We designed a versatile neat system based
on the client's needs says Bonehill “Choosing the best products
for the job one of the advantages of not being product driven!
The multi-function 2 storey venue is open in the
morning for coffee and breakfast, morphs into a lively lunch bar
at midday, and then into a brasserie style restaurant in the evenings,
complete with a small dancefloor downstairs for those wanting a
late night groove. It's immediately become very high profile and
popular in the town.
Alfred's Bar is independently owned by local entrepreneur
David John, who's family operate other bars and businesses in the
area.
PAI chose the compact, full sounding EV ID speakers
for the downstairs foreground sound system, together with Logic
Systems subs, on the dancefloor and spread out around the other
areas. The background music system is a Rolec hard disk machine,
and the processor is an Allen & heath 1DR digital sound processor,
supplied complete with two remotes for functional access. This allows
the managers to switch configurations between the background music
setting and those for other sources including TV/ and video/audio,
or the DJ setting there is a hook in point for a mobile DJ to plug
into the system.
For the upstairs restaurant, there’s a straightforward 100 volt line background sound system, complete with an Australian monitor system supplied to PAI by Fusion PLC. The small al fresco area at the back features a pair of Tannoy speakers.
For dancefloor lighting, PAI specified 2 Abstract VRX scanners and two Martin sound-animated fixtures, which was ideal to add some colour, movement and excitement to this area.
For video, PAI supplied two Sanyo projectors and an electric screen, and two 42 inch Fujitsu plasma screens for use with video and TV.
The installation was undertaken by David John's
own electrical crew, with PAI commissioning and programming all
the equipment and training the staff up on maintenance and use.
Ends.
