Ysgol Glannau Gwaun, Neyland - Vaughan Sound

Client Overview

Ysgol Glannau Gwaun and Neyland Community School are based in Fishguard and Neyland and have both undergone major refurbishments to enhance the facilities and opportunities for pupils.

Aimed at students aged 3 to 11, the newly-built learning institutions were constructed on the original school sites and have both received fantastic feedback since opening their new doors.

Project Brief

Having provided their expertise to many education-based projects in South Wales, Vaughan Sound was invited by the electrical contractor EMC Services to supply both Ysgol Glannau Gwaun and Neyland Community School with state-of-the-art sound, lighting and audio-visual systems.

Technical Solutions

The local primary schools requested a technical solution that would have a positive impact on learning and keep students engaged. Vaughan Sound was able to meet this specification and deliver equipment to effectively enhance day-to-day study.

The devised scheme was developed in conjunction with key electrical engineers of Pembrokeshire County Council.

To accentuate the education experience for both teachers and pupils alike, every classroom benefitted from a soundfield system.

Impressively improving the audio environment, this innovative equipment ensures an even distribution of sound, enabling students to clearly hear what is being said by the facilitator.

In essence, through improved audibility, children’s attentiveness, participation, comprehension and concentration increase.

The main halls were equipped with Zero 88 stage lighting schemes, along with digital signage displays and large screen Sanyo projectors.

Offering flexibility, the simple to use, multi-purpose products are suitable for an array of events, providing staff with the opportunity to utilise the setup for productions, presentations and other curricular activities.

Meeting the school’s safety and equality requirements, the new buildings also received Current Thinking induction loops for the hearing impaired, disabled toilet alarms and emergency call systems.

To allow staff to broadcast announcements during term time, Vaughan Sound installed zoned TOA public address systems, complete with class change facilities for daily use.

Outcome

Vaughan Sound – whose previous education clients include Coleg Gwent, Newport and Cowbridge Comprehensive School – successfully completed the projects on time and within budget.

Following the lighting, sound and AV installation, both primary schools now offer enhanced learning environments, enabling pupils to receive the best experience possible.

Comment

The Vaughan Sound team were great onsite, they were very amenable and proactive, and always willing to demonstrate equipment.
